ASSOCIATE ARCHITECT

 

Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Director - Design, to develop/coordinate documents for functional programming, design, and construction, and to provide design management for a variety of renovations and newly develop project cost estimates, review construction bids, and contracts for construction projects.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, management and direction in a manner consistent with the SIEC Group values.

  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of architectural plans, specifications, and drawings for buildings and structures.

  • Effectively assess team and individual strengths and development needs, putting in place appropriate actions / learning requirements.

  • Provide and maintain high standards of design, construction and contract management, and support the senior colleagues in maintain standards and ensuring compliance.

  • Prepare and check drawings and specification, for schemes technical accuracy and compliance with appropriate standards.

  • Lead and manage the delivery of a design review service across multi-disciplines, maintaining and promoting high standards of design, construction and contract management and promote Sustainable Design across the team, and within projects wherever possible.

  • Provide architectural advice to clients.

  • Contribute to the achievement of the business plan objectives.

  • Responsible for identifying new business opportunities

  • Inspire a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, ensuring the delivery of demonstrable high quality products and services which embrace quality standards.

  • Prepare preliminary plans/cost estimates based on programmatic requirements.

  • Prepare detailed design/construction documents.

  • Provide project management for selected assigned projects from preliminary planning through construction administration.

  • Assist in the review of design/construction documents prepared by others.

  • Provide support to Senior Architect, Architects and other administrators on special projects.

  • Maintain Electronic Library of manufacturers' information, samples, and manuals.

  • Perform other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field

  • 10 years of related experience in planning, design and construction administration.

  • Experience in coordinating the design process.

  • Familiarity with building/life safety codes and handicapped accessibility requirements.

  • Drawing production experience, preferably Revit, AutoCAD.

  • Proficient architectural drafting/drawing ability.

  • Good communications skills, both written and oral.
