MECHANICAL INSPECTOR

 

Position Summary:

The Mechanical Inspector will be responsible for providing technical support to the Resident Engineer / Mechanical Engineer and for reviewing, monitoring, inspecting and supervising all Mechanical Works during the construction phase of the Project. He/She shall have the responsibility for checking that the Contractor’s Works are carried out in accordance with best Practices, Statutory and Client requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma of Mechanical Engineering (Min.)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience, 3 of which in Dubai

  • Building Construction Experience is a must.

  • Trakhees’ creditation will be an advantage.

  • Extensive experience in Testing & Commissioning of HVAC systems of apartment building projects in Dubai

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

  • Ability to accurately document field activities through reports and photos

  • Ability to track on-going construction activities as well as schedule manpower and coordinate upcoming construction activities related to mechanical works

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical plans/specifications

  • Ensure the quality of contractor work in accordance with contract documents

  • Good team player, able to communicate effectively with colleagues

  • Consultancy experience is favourable.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Inspections

  • To conduct site mechanical inspections as required and as per Inspection Schedule and WIR’s issued by Contractor.

  • Review & verify Setting Out / Layout of mechanical elements.

  • Inspect mechanical elements to confirm accuracy with approved Shop Drawings.

  • Witness mechanical tests and inspections in accordance with Contract Requirements.

  • Inspect piping installations for Water Supply (CW & HW) Systems

  • Inspect piping installations for Drainage Systems

  • Inspect piping installations for Chilled Water Systems

  • Inspect piping installations for Fire Fighting Systems

  • Inspect piping installations for LPG Systems

  • Inspect HVAC Installations i.e. Extract Fans, Pressurisation fans, AHUs, FCUs, Chillers, Heat Exchangers etc.

  • Inspect other Mechanical Installations such as Water Tanks, Pumps, Calorifiers etc.

  • Witness Pressures tests, Flushing, Chemical Dosing etc. of piping installations.

  • Verify setting out / layouts of drainage outlets, taps, valves etc.

  • Inspect Ventilation Ducting installations including layouts of ducting, Ducting insulation, Fire Dampers etc.

  • Verify setting out / layouts of Final Fix Mechanical elements such as Grilles, Diffusers, Sprinklers, FHRs etc.

  • Ensuring that all openings/box outs/service penetrations are sealed in accordance with Specifications

  • Prepare a Sign off of above false ceiling works to allow Ceiling Installations to progress.

  • Witness all prescribed tests for testing and commissioning of Systems.

  • Attend mechanical snagging and de-snagging inspections and prepare snag lists as applicable.

  • Mark-up mechanical construction modifications on the drawings while on-site, assisting in Contractor’s preparation of as-built drawings.

  • Prepare the schedule of incomplete mechanical works or defects prior to issuing TOC.

Progress Meetings

  • Attend weekly Progress Meeting if required and directed by Resident Engineer

  • Attend QA/QC Meetings and identify issues concerning quality standards

  • Attend and report site coordination sessions with Main contractor & Subcontractors

Project Coordination

  • Coordination with Architectural/Structural/Electrical Disciplines for ensuring Electrical requirements are addressed adequately

  • Coordinate with Resident Engineer for site issues

  • Monitor Contractor’s works for compliance QA/QC Plans

  • Coordinate with contractor/subcontractors site representatives for accuracy and sequencing of works

Reports & Records

  • Report comments on WIR’s as applicable.

  • Issue Site Observation Notes and NCRs as applicable.

  • Prepare notes on QA/QC issues if applicable.

  • Coordinate with Mechanical Engineer and prepare responses to RFI’s, etc.

  • Check and verify Mechanical As-built drawings as applicable.

Salary Range:  8000 - 10000 AED
