SENIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER

 

 

Position Summary:

Plan, design, and furnish interiors of large-scale, luxury projects, including hotels,  restaurants and private residences. Formulate design which is practical, aesthetic, and conducive to intended client purposes.

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (four-year college or technical school) Architecture and/or Interior Design

  • 8 plus years of experience in high-end hospitality interior design preferred

  • Auto-CAD

 

Essential Functions:

  • Play a large role under design director’s review by overseeing the work of project teams focused on design, development, and delivery of outstanding solutions for all phases on a client project.

  • Involved at each stage to ensure design integrity and direction, and will be a primary point-of-contact along with the assigned project director.

  • Handle at least 3 projects from start to finish and manage team/ client/project billing on all aspects Work in tandem and takes guidance from the respective executive Design Directors

  • Creative, visualize, develop, design or create new ideas, relationships, systems or products and make unique contributions to a concept.

  • Conceptualize the overall design intent of the entire project, and interpret the requirements of among client, operator and consultants.

  • Liaise with client frequently on interior design factors of zoning, space and area planning, functionality, theme, layout, FF&E

  • Bridge and develop the relationship between creative staff and respective design directors.

  • Establishes overall design concepts and maintains continuity of those concepts through completion.

  • Guides design team from concept through schematic design; and maintains continuity of design through design development, construction documents and construction administration.

  • Serves as an interpreter of client and operator standards and budget into the design.

  • Translates concepts into schematic design criteria

  • Ensures that the schematic design is communicated properly to the client, design team and production team

  • Develops with the Project Director and Principal in Charge staff utilization/work plan and schedule.

  • Confer with the client to determine factors affecting planning interior environments, such as budgets, architectural preferences, and purpose and function.

  • Advise client on interior design factors such as space planning, layout and utilization of furnishings or equipment, and colour coordination.

  • Determines level and quality of finishes

  • Review detail shop drawing and coordinate with other professionals, such as project managers, architects, engineers-mechanical, electrical, to ensure job success.

  • Consult with FF&E to ensure installation, and arrangement of carpeting, fixtures, accessories, draperies, paint and wall coverings, artwork, furniture, and related items.

  • Select or design,  artworks, and accessories in tandem with art design director

  • Render design ideas in form of paste-ups or drawings

  • Use complex three-dimensional design techniques, including hand sketches, computer-aided drafting (CAD), Adobe PhotoShop, Revit, Microsoft Office and related software to produce construction documents.

  • Plan and design interior environments for large-scale, luxury projects, including hotels, casinos, restaurants and private residences.

  • Participates in development of presentation material and helps maintain graphic quality and content.

  • Participates in client presentations/meetings through design development, then as required throughout the design and documentation phases.

  • Strong organizational, communication and relationship management skills
    Communicates design intent to consultants and reviews work for conformance to design intent Review cost estimates with project team

  • Time Management – Time management skills look at the ability of the individual to effectively utilize available time for the completion of necessary job tasks. This competency asks the question “How efficient and productive are you in the utilization of available working time?”

  • Communication – Communication is the ability to convey info, written and oral in a clear and concise manner. Does employee use active listening skills with an interest to understand others?

  • Attitude – Is a cooperative member of the team. Possess a positive, helpful attitude. Does the employee respond to an emergency request for assistance?

  • Coaching & Development – Coaching and development looks at the ability of an individual to provide guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas needed to accomplish a task or solve a problem. This competency asks the question “How well can you identify and help others to improve their knowledge or skills?”

  • Leadership – Leadership skills looks at how well the individual motivates and guides others to ensure performance in accordance with clear expectations and goals. It involves attracting, supporting, developing, and retaining a talented and diverse workforce. This competency asks the question “How comfortable are you with making decisions and taking a leading role?”
