INTERIOR BIM COORDINATOR

 

Summary:

The Interior BIM coordinator is responsible for generating and managing BIM models for Interior Design.  In addition to modelling (creating, revising and inputting BIM models) and interior documentation skills, the coordinator will supervise other employees working with BIM models.

 

It is essential they have the verbal and written communication skills to succeed in this position.  Previous experience in a similar role is generally preferred.  Additionally, BIM coordinators must work well in a group setting, as well as on their own with minimal supervision.

 

They should be able to interpret and communicate with the lead designer to understand the design intent and coordinate with them to implement the latest designs or design changes. They should carry this through with the

team through all drawing stages, including SD, DD, TD and IFC.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring collaborative behaviors are fully complied with across their discipline team

  • Compiling and managing the combined Interior Design model (Main models, Units, Pods, and other Links)

  • Setting up the views within the Interior Design model as per MIDP

  • Setting up the model with the based on Interior design drawing and modeling standards. (BEP)

  • Exchanging inter-disciplinary design models through Aconex, Share Point, wetransffer, BIM360 or ACC

  • Uploading of files in the agreed format, extracted from their Interior design models to Cloud/Server on a weekly basis

  • Review 3D/BIM Models from consultants and contractors and provide mark-ups/tracker as required

  • Conduct clash detection test and visual walkthroughs using NavisWorks Manage.

  • Audit and review models in Autodesk Revit add-ins.

  • Facilitate weekly coordination meetings with project team members

  • Early design review, validation and constructability + coordination analysis

  • Assigning discovered observation/coordination or clashes to respective discipline responsible for a given model. (BIM360 Issues)

  • Preparing Clash reports via Navisworks.

  • Review collision reports with relevant project team members

  • Verifying all the information entered in the model is correct

  • Verifying if all exported data from the model are complete and accurate

  • Ensure that the model parameters are compliant with the BEP

  • Initial configuration of 3D models in modeling programs

  • Reviewing models and its configuration for all disciplines to ensure that the correct coordinate system is used and models are matched​

  • Implementing design templates in modeling tools as per ID source file/ID Template.

  • Creating solutions to improve the workflow with models.

  • Creating element families or an internal element library within the project

  • Participating in the inaugural meetings to ensure that everyone understands the BIM process

  • Establishing an agenda for regular coordination meetings

  • Transferring models to new software versions (previously agreed with the whole project group)

  • Verifying compliance for all local authority compliance and code compliance.

  • Check completion of the transfer within models

  • Prepare model health Report

Qualifications & Technical Skills:

  • 5-8 years of Interior documentation experience

  • At least 5 years experience in BIM implementation on major projects.

  • Advanced capabilities with BIM authoring and proprietary software applications such as Revit, Dynamo, Navisworks, BIM 360 or similar applications.

  • Ability to work well within a team of other professionals

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Able to follow and implement the company’s BIM and detailing standards

  • Ability to use time productively, maximise efficiency, and meet challenging work goals.

  • Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed as well as determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance.

  • Analytical, deadline-oriented and self-motivated

  • Possess excellent English communication skills with an ability to form effective relationships with project delivery team, Client, and Contractor. Arabic-speaking will be a plus.

  • Must possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others.
