Position Summary:

The Associate - Head of Interior Design will have overall responsibility for all production work completed by the Interior Design Team and for providing the strategic direction for the Department in advancing the organization to its potential. Person responsible to lead an existing department in design and outsourcing effort. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Interior design team, providing overall design direction from Concept Stage through Schematic Design to maintain continuity through Design Development Stage up to Construction.

  • Client facing responsibilities

  • Conceive and execute design from the client brief in coordination with client's need, vision, brand requirements, project budget, schedule and site issues.

  • Business development and presentation responsibilities in order to secure work and the engagement.

  • Leader in the profession to develop our teams of capable and ambitious designers, the Head of Interior Design shall educate, inspire, and motivate colleagues to high standards of design quality and to achieve successful delivery.

  • Collaborate with other design discipline team, mainly Architectural team and MEP team and enhance ability to undertake high profile, design led projects.

  • Leadership of the team and coordination with external consultants.

  • Assist in project budgeting (Interior Design) and driving the team to design according to budget.

  • Prepare and deliver interior design staff evaluations, staff performance development and workload allocation.

  • Contributing to other technical and operational duties as required by the team.

  • Responsible for the utilization of teams knowledge and expertisewith regard to Furniture, Fixture and Equipment (FF&E), Architectural / Interior Finishes, MEP & Shop drawing coordination, Lighting, Art, and Signages.

  • Engage clients in explorations and understanding of different design solutions for any given project.

Qualifications & Technical Skills:

  • Extensive experience with Interior design on multidisciplinary projects at all design stages.

  • 12+ years minimum experience in the field.

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in the Middle East.

  • Substantial experience of different construction techniques, buildability, and practical site issues.

  • Ability to effectively manage resources and to work within budget and to programme.

  • High level of design capability and a strong portfolio is needed.

  • Familiarity with local suppliers for FF&E items.

  • The ability to clearly communicate technical and design concepts through reports and presentations.

  • Good organisational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well under pressure.

  • A flexible attitude to both the type of work being undertaken and the level of responsibility accepted.

  • Good presentation skills.

  • Hospitality and F&B experience is a plus.
