ROADS/ HIGHWAY DESIGN ASSOCIATE

 

Position Summary:

  • Able to demonstrate technical (design) skills

  • Ability to demonstrate experience of supporting traffic impact studies

  • Experience of undertaking Highway design for major master-planning in the GCC

  • Ability to identify the scope of work for the project, produce a scope of work document and design criteria report that fulfill the project requirements.

  • Ability to create a QA/QC checking procedures and verification policy to ensure a well coordinated design.

  • The candidate to possess full and comprehensive knowledge of Highway design and applicable local and international standards.

  • Written and verbal communication skills are a must.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Designs and lays out complete systems and components of a Company project with all related facilities including design elements for which there may be no clearly established precedents.

  • Utilizes good judgment and prior experience, anticipates problems at the outset and provides solutions.

  • Prepares highway design criteria, concept design, detail design, tender documents and associated reports and calculations.

  • Provide design support during the construction stage .

  • Leads a highway team, leads the highway design work and coordinates with other design disciplines.

  • Coordinates and communicates with the client.

  • Performs interdisciplinary reviews and provides coordinating data to ensure a compatible design.

  • Understands and applies company commonly used design standards and methods.

  • Prepares manpower estimates.

  • Design of grade separated interchanges and complex interchanges.

  • Design of junctions of roundabouts and signalized junctions both horizontally and vertically, and the development of site grading.

  • Design the Roads in 3D environment.

  • Design of road cross sections and generating earthwork quantities from the 3D model.

  • Pavement design and pavement design reports.

  • Be able to prepare the required presentations to client using PowerPoint or any other applicable software.

  • Reviews supplier data as required.

  • Reads supplier manufacturer drawings.

  • Completes additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Technical Skills:

  • BEng or MEng in Civil engineering

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the UAE working on public and private sector projects

  • Approved status with DMT and RTA
