SENIOR FF&E INTERIOR DESIGNER

 

Summary:

The Senior FF&E Designer will work under the direction of the Lead Interior Designer / Project Lead from Schematic Design Stage onwards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works on creating interior specifications and making interior selections based on the Lead Interior Designer / Project Lead’s conceptual design intent, which is responding to the client’s brief and project budget

  • Manages the other team members within in the FF&E team

  • Put together material boards

  • Collects control samples

  • Check coordination between drawings and specifications, and original design intent materials

 

Essential Functions:​

  • Knowledge of local material resources preferred

  • Participate in the construction admin of projects and review of submittals and finish samples

  • Proven experience in FF&E design development, documentation, and reviews

  • Outstanding graphic presentation skills

  • Works with design and client to develop a schematic FF&E design based on project criteria, program, and budget

  • Directs and reviews furniture plans for content and accuracy and ensures that they are fully coordinated with finishes, electrical, RCP, and lighting plans and other consultant’s drawings

  • Review samples, strike-offs, etc. for compliance with specifications and design intent

  • Coordinates presentation of artwork

  • Coordinates FF&E installation with all parties involved

  • Produces and coordinates finish, ironmongery, sanitaryware, FF&E & OS&E, switches and sockets and joinery hardware schedules

  • Responsible for revising specifications schedules

  • Assists in coordination of interior documents with other consultants and architects

  • Arranges meetings as required with manufacturers and suppliers

  • Attends trade shows to research new materials

  • Organizes and maintains the materials library

  • Assists other interior designers and architects in locating products

  • Allocates and adjusts the interior specifications based on any project value-engineering exercise

  • Reviews cost consultant reports and has a good understanding of what is required to meet project budgets.

 

Qualifications & Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or Architecture

  • 5-8 plus years of experience in Interior Design, (FF&E-focussed)

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Indesign, Sketchup, Photoshop and hand sketching.  Revit is not a must, but a nice-to-have.

  • Must be team-oriented, articulate, flexible, productive and able to deal successfully with other team members and outside vendors.

  • Must be willing to learn, meet deadlines and take initiative
